Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 July 2026
Builders Place SA ("we", "us") respects your privacy and complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have.
Information we collect
- Account details you provide (name, email, phone, business info, address, ID/registration numbers where required).
- Content you submit (job briefs, quotes, messages, portfolio images, reviews).
- Usage data (device, browser, IP address, pages visited, referrer) for analytics and security.
- Payment metadata for subscriptions (processed by our payment partner — we do not store full card details).
How we use your information
- Operate the marketplace: match Clients with Service Providers, deliver messages and notifications, process subscriptions.
- Verify identity, licences and reduce fraud.
- Improve the Platform and communicate updates.
- Meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
Sharing
We share information with other users to the extent needed to operate the marketplace (e.g. a Client sees the businesses that quote on their job). We use trusted processors — hosting, email delivery, analytics and payments — under written contracts that limit use to the services we procure. We do not sell your personal information.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may access, correct or delete your personal information, object to processing, or withdraw consent. Email hello@buildersplace.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards including encryption in transit, role-based access controls, and regular backups. No online service is 100% secure — please protect your account credentials and report any suspicious activity.
